The outdoor spaces

The 6-hectare Domaine d'Aveny park has retained its English landscape style, with centuries-old native trees, such as plane trees, oaks, ash trees and chestnuts. Star-shaped alleys cross the park, offering magnificent panoramas. At the beginning of the 19th century, part of it was transformed to include a lake and new species such as cedars and horse chestnuts, adding an exotic touch to this natural space.

History of Château d'Aveny

Domaine d'Aveny 1778
1778

The Marquis de Broglie sold the lands, fiefs and manor of Aveny to the Dame de Fayet.

Mr and Mrs de Fayet carry out restoration work: large main building, wings to the east and west, fence of the park, the large vegetable garden and the alleys of the park, construction of the stables and the dovecote, paving the courtyard, paving the courtyard, layout of the Isle du Moulin and construction of the farm barn

Several marriages were celebrated at the castle including, the oldest, on April 24, 1800, between the owners' eldest daughter, Amélie-Honorine de Fayet and Ange-Guillaume Aubourg, Comte de Boury

After the war, the Marquis Léon de Fayet rebuilt the two pavilions of the castle, raised the roofs and thus gave the whole its current shape. This castle was the residence of the Marquis de Fayet and then of the de Robien family.

To go further

We do not know the dates of the first works of the castle built on the foundations of an 11th century fortified house. But the castle as you discover it took shape shortly before the French Revolution. (When on February 12, 1778, the Marquis de Broglie sold the seigniory of Aveny to Les Fayet, the estate was in a pitiful state! The ground floor of the castle was “as uninhabitable as a cellar.”) So from 1779 to 1794 major restoration works were carried out. In 1779, the main building was raised, from the wings to the east and west; the fence of the park and the large vegetable garden and the alleys of the park were laid out and planted. In 1781, construction of the stables and the dovecote and in 1783, paving of the courtyard.

It was almost a century later, after the war of 1870, that the Marquis Léon de Fayet rebuilt the two pavilions of the castle, raised the roofs and thus gave the whole its current silhouette. This castle was the residence of the Marquis de Fayet and then of the de Robien family.

Taken over in 2021 by the Domaines & Events group, and the Chambriard family, the Domaine has undergone a thorough renovation, in particular of the Grande Galerie, a magnificent reception room in the 220m2 Castle, fully insulated, air-conditioned with new woodwork and frames. Beautiful renovations have been carried out in the bedrooms, the lobby, the lounges, the Orangery (the former stables) as well as the Maisons du Domaine.
